Overview

Arcadia Lodge Lake Bunyonyi is one of the famously known 3 star mountain lodge in Kabale located in Kachwekano road, Lake Bunyonyi, Kabale. The lodge is located in Kabale town a 7 hours’ drive from Kampala located in the south western part of Uganda. It is just a 15 minute walk to lake Bunyonyi located on a hill overlooking lake Bunyonyi and is surrounded by different land marks; Kabale golf club 9.2km from the lodge, Kabale regional referral hospital which is 9.6 km from the lodge, Kabale university 11.6 km from the lodge and Bwindi impenetrable national park 37.4 km from the lodge. The breathtaking view of lake Bunyonyi giving such a Warm comforting home of luxury.

The lodge is the best for families with provisions for infants where infant cribs are provided with a restaurant and bar, free services given to the customers too however, pets are strictly not allowed in this lodge.

The lodge has a 25-seater motor launch ideal for taking in the lake and its islands one of the daytime tours arranged and stargazing tours arranged at night, a two high end bombardier jet skis available for hire as well as four Honda quad bikes for hire in case you need to adventure the muddy tracks along the lakeshore or ridges overlooking the lake.

Check-in

On checking in, the front desk is always open from 8 AM to mid night, the front desk staff will greet the guests on arrival, provide the necessary information and directions to the guest. Check-in time is 2PM to midnight. You are required to present the following on checking in;

  •  Government issued photo ID may be required
  • Minimum check in age is 18 years
  • Credit card, debit card or cash deposit required for incidental charges.

How to access Arcadia lodge

The hotel is 8-9 hours away while using Kampala / Entebbe which by public means will cost you 12$ for a bus to Kabale and 30$ in a private taxi from Kabale to the hotel or you can hire private transport to the hotel.

You can also access the hotel by road from Kigali which is just a four hours’ drive from Kigali through Cyanika or Katuna boarder in a private car however you need an east African visa which is just 100$ for multiple entry to Uganda, Rwanda or Kenya. Alternatively, you can use a single entry visa.
By air, you can access the lodge by booking for a flight to Kisoro airstrip from Entebbe international airport. From here, your guide can take you to the lodge.

Activities to engage in while staying at Arcadia lodge

Visiting Lake Bunyonyi is usually organized by the hotel its self for its visitors in a 25-seater motor launch ideal for taking in the lake and its islands one of the daytime tours arranged and stargazing tours arranged at night. The lake is just a 1-2 hours’ drive where on the lake while canoeing, you can also spot different bird species.

Batwa cultural experience in the nearby village where you will get to learn a lot from this local community. Get amazing entertainment from local music, local dance, local way of collecting wild honey and making fire using hands.

Golden monkey tracking done in Mgahinga national park which is 1-2 hour’s drive to the park and this experience only costs 100$ for the permit while for habituation costs 135$ per person including park entry fees. You should however book for the permits in advance during your stay at the lodge.
Bird watching while at the hotel as well as lake Bunyonyi, the hotel has a number of birds around which you can spot at your balcony while in your room. You can also organize for a full birding activity at Lake Bunyonyi where over 400 bird species can be spotted.

Gorilla trekking and habituation in Bwindi impenetrable national park and Mgahinga Gorilla Park. This experience needs you to have a trekking permit for gorillas which is 700$ for foreign nonresidents, 600$ for foreign residents and 250000 for eat African residents. This unique experience gives you time to share with the gorillas as they continue doing their day to day activities in their natural habitat.
