Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Your journey begins with your arrival at Kigali International Airport (KGL), where you’ll be warmly greeted by our representative. After the welcome, embark on a scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park, located in Rwanda’s northwest. Along the way, you’ll be captivated by the stunning landscapes and the “Land of a Thousand Hills.”

Upon reaching the park, check in to your chosen midrange lodge or hotel, where you can relax and savor a delicious dinner.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

After an early breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking guidelines. You’ll be assigned to a gorilla family group and embark on an exhilarating trek into the park’s lush forests to find the mountain gorillas.

The duration and difficulty of the trek may vary, but the anticipation and excitement will keep you motivated. Once you encounter the gorilla family, you’ll have a mesmerizing hour to observe and photograph these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. Witness their social interactions, behaviors, and the bond between family members.

After the gorilla trek, return to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you can visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village to learn about traditional practices, enjoy vibrant dance performances, and interact with local communities.

Day 3: Transfer to Akagera National Park

Following breakfast bid farewell to Volcanoes National Park and set off on a journey to Akagera National Park in the east of Rwanda. The drive offers scenic views and opportunities for wildlife sightings.

Upon arriving at Akagera, check in to your selected midrange lodge, where you can relax and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a game drive in Akagera National Park, where you may encounter a variety of wildlife, including elephants, buffalos, lions, and antelopes.

Day 4: Full Day Game Drive in Akagera National Park

Today, you’ll explore the savannah landscapes of Akagera National Park on a full-day game drive. Keep your eyes peeled for the park’s diverse wildlife, including giraffes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles, and numerous bird species. Your guide will provide insights into the animals’ behaviors and habitats.

Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and relaxation.

Day 5: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

After breakfast, depart for Nyungwe Forest National Park, located in the southwest of Rwanda. The journey offers picturesque landscapes and the opportunity to pass through local communities.

Upon reaching Nyungwe, check in to your chosen midrange lodge or hotel, where you can unwind and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, you can explore the nearby Gisakura Tea Plantation or enjoy a leisurely nature walk.

Day 6: Chimpanzee Tracking in Nyungwe Forest and Departure from Kigali

Start your day with an early breakfast before embarking on an exciting chimpanzee-tracking adventure in Nyungwe Forest. Following a briefing, join a guided trek to search for these lively primates in their natural habitat.

Nyungwe Forest is also home to a variety of other primates, birds, and lush vegetation, making it a truly enchanting rainforest experience.

After chimpanzee tracking, return to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, bid farewell to Nyungwe Forest National Park and begin your journey back to Kigali. Depending on your departure time, you may have the opportunity to explore Kigali’s landmarks and markets, including the Genocide Memorial Center, before being transferred to Kigali International Airport for your onward flight, concluding your 6-day wildlife and gorilla safari.
