Detailed itinerary for the 6 Days Gorilla trekking and Masai Mara safari

Day 1: Pick up from hotel in Kampala/airport and transfer to Bwindi.

You will be met by our safari guide at your hotel in Kampala, briefing will be done at the hotel after your breakfast. You will then embark on the long drive to western part of Uganda, the scenic drive takes you through small towns and villages dominated by hills and valleys.

We will have a brief stop at equator for pictures. Proceed to Mbarara where we will stop for lunch and some refreshments at Igongo Cultural center. After our hearty lunch, proceed with our drive to Bwindi through the Switzerland of Africa that is Kigezi Highlands. Check in our lodge, wait for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla tracking

The long waited day of our 6 days Gorilla trekking and Masai Mara safari. Gorilla trekking is one of the highlights of our Uganda safari. Its worth unmissable experience during your Uganda safari. The Gorilla trekking activity starts at around 7:30am with briefing from the park authorities at the park headquarters.

Depending on the sector where your Gorilla permits were booked. Local entertainment is done by the local performance to enrich our guests with Uganda local culture. After briefing the guests are categorized in groups of 8 people and each group is allocated one Gorilla family where they are going to track. Each group will be assigned a game ranger and well equipped ranger for security purposes. Entering to the juggle is one of the unique experience you get as you see a wide range of both plant, animal and bird species. The thick vegetation in the forest accords its name Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park.

You will trace for the Gorillas till you find them. Depending on their movement, tracking can be done in 2 hours or more. On finding them, you will spend one hour with the gorillas. Also, you will be able to take videos and pictures  while following the tracking guidelines and rules.

After gorilla tracking you will head back to the park headquarters where you will meet your driver guide. Open up your lunch boxes as we wait for brief celebration of our victory. We then drive to Mbarara city as we try to short our next day driving distance to catch up with our flight. Dinner and overnight at the hotel

Day 3: Transfer to Masai Mara via Entebbe

Have our early morning light breakfast served, we check out of the hotel and start our drive to Entebbe. We catch up with our flight to Masai Mara from Entebbe international airport. Our driver guide will meet you at the reserve airstrip. Then, he will take you to the lodge for check in. Thereafter, you will have lunch and some rest. In the evening we go for brief game drive in search for some animals like lions, leopards, hyenas, buffaloes, rare species of Giraffes, Zebras, impala and many others. Return to our lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Morning and afternoon game drives.

After breakfast, depart for the exciting morning game drive. Search for the big game like Lions, Elephants, Cheetahs, Buffaloes, Rhinos, Leopards, Maasai giraffes, zebras, Elands, and, of course, wildebeests and a plethora of birds. Return to the lodge for lunch before going on an evening game drive to see some of the animals you might have missed earlier in the day.

Day 5: Morning and afternoon game drives

Another day of game viewing, as we memorize our past Gorilla and wildlife experience, today we get up and go for a game viewing on another sector of Masai Mara national park. Our main emphasis will be on the missed wildlife in our previous game drives. WE also have an optional Hot air balloon safaris booked and paid early at an extra cost.

Depending on the time of our safari we can have chance for the wildebeest migration. You will spend this day along the Mara river viewing millions of animals crossing the majestic Mara river from Tanzania Serengeti national park. We later return back to our lodge for late lunch, after lunch have a community cultural visit to the Maasai manyattas. Enjoy the untapped Masai culture that has been there for decades. You will actively involved on some of the activities like traditional jumping dance, milking of cows and many others. Dinner and overnight at our lodge.

Day 6: Departure

We now come to an end of our safari, its unbelievable that the six days are over. Your heart still yearns for more but time has cut us short. You will check out of the lodge and transfer to the airport to catch up with your flight back home or the next destination.
