8 Days Uganda Gorillas – Chimps and Wildlife Tour will take you through Ziwa Rhino sanctuary to track the rhinos, Murchison Falls National Park and expect the roaring rapids of the fall, the rolling plains of Uganda’s largest National Park teaming with an abundance of wildlife, Kibale Forest National Park with Bwindi Gorillas (Close relatives to humans)

Day 1. Arrival and transfer to your hotel 

To begin with, you will be picked up from the Airport by a staff of Pamoja Tours and Travel with higher chances of meeting our director on arrival. Depending on your arrival time, you can explore Kampala City (Capital City) and thereafter you check-in at your lodge. Additionally, a city tour can be organized at an extra cost. Also, you will have a breathtaking experience at Via Via guest house.

Day 2. Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park with a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After your Early Morning Breakfast, you will transfer to Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for Rhino tracking. Afterwards, you will have lunch then proceed to Murchison falls National park (Uganda’s largest National Park). You will have the chance of viewing lions, and giraffes, hartebeest, buffalo, and elephants.

Then, surely you will be fascinated by the concentration of hippos and the Nile crocodiles here. For birders, Murchison Falls boasts 450 bird species including the elusive shoe-bill stork, dwarf king fisher, the white-thigh hornbill, and the Goliath heron among others.

Day 3. Explore Murchison Falls on a game drive with an afternoon boat cruise to the falls

After early morning breakfast, embark on a game drive on the northern banks of River Nile. Return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch takes a boat ride on the Nile whilst viewing the animals’ Hippos and crocodiles, different species of birds. The boat cruise will take you to the foot of the mighty Murchison falls offering great photographic opportunities of the marvel of nature so carry your camera with you if you like. Then head back to the lodge and spend the rest of the evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight as the previous night

Day 4. Depart Murchison Falls to Kibale Forest National Park

Immediately after breakfast set off for a drive to Kibale National Park with a view of the scenic tea plantation to Fort Portal (Western part of Uganda) where you will stop for lunch. Kibale is particularly alluring to nature lovers known for its excellent chimp tracking and birding, worth also noting having the highest concentration of primates in East Africa of about 13 primates. Such include chimps, vervet, red-tailed, L’Hoest and blue monkeys. You may opt to go for an evening or retire at your lodge as you wait for the chimpanzee tracking the following day. Primates walk to Kanyanchu river camp, the most popular walk in the park. It highlights a miscellany of flora and fauna within the forest.

Day 5. Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi Swamp walk

Today you will have the opportunity to track a chimpanzee that leaves Kanyanchu at 8:00 am. The forest walk will expect to take 2 to 3 hrs where you will follow chimpanzees, meet up with them as they go about their daily activities and watch them for an hour. After lunch, you will do a swamp walk at Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, which is probably better for general monkey viewing and one of the finest birding trails in the country.  Please Note Optional Activity: Chimpanzee Habituation     

For an extra US$70 per person, you can do chimpanzee habituation tracking instead of the regular chimp tracking. This will take the whole day and you will be 100% sure to come face to face with chimps. Book in Time because only 6 persons are allowed to go per day. Your swamp walk can be postponed to the next morning.

Day 6. Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

After breakfast, transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Bwindi is a big habitat for mountain gorillas in Uganda (harbouring an estimated 400 mountain gorillas – roughly half of the world’s population), including several habituated groups, which can be tracked. With a strenuous day ahead, you will do less on arrival but just check in your accommodation, and relax as you prepare for the Bwindi gorilla trekking experience the following day.

Day 7: Gorilla tracking and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After an early breakfast and a briefing by a ranger guide, you will enter the gorilla sanctuary for your adventure. The beauty of this rainforest is spectacular! The area offers a dramatic steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense, but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. The time is taken and the terrain varies with the movements of these great primates.

Once you locate a gorilla group, you will be allowed an hour in their presence. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle and endangered giants is an awesome, exciting experience to be long savoured hence the climax of your 8 Days Uganda Gorillas – Chimps and wildlife Tour

Return to your lodge. Check out for a transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. Lake Bunyonyi is framed by lush, green-terraced hills that reach a height of (2,200 – 2,478m) but it’s the 29 islands of various shapes and sizes scattered across the water that make it most magical — you could admire them all day.

Day 8.Transfer back to Kampala

You will have a relaxed breakfast then you can opt for swimming in Lake Bunyonyi before you set off on the journey to Entebbe. Else, embark on your return journey to Entebbe Airport or accommodation of your booking. Expect en route stopovers in Mbarara town for lunch and the Uganda Equator line mark in Kayabwe for some memorable photos (if you didn’t stop on the first day) and maybe buy some art pieces of interest. Proceed with the journey arriving late afternoon/evening for drop off at the airport or accommodation of your booking hence the end of 8 Days Uganda Gorillas – Chimps and wildlife Tour
