Porini Amboseli Camp
“One of the favorites in the midst of Amboseli National Park”
To begin with, Porini Amboseli Camp is a Mid-range accommodation in Amboseli National park opened in 2001. Porini Amboseli was one of the first eco-camps in Kenya and today, is still one of the favorite camps in Amboseli National Park. Also, staff at Porini is all locally employed and trained Masai warriors and elders, with the exception of the manager and head chef. Along with the staff and the nine canvased tents, Porini truly gives an authentic and intimate safari experience in Kenya.
Location
Most famous for its views of Africa’s highest mountain, Amboseli is one of the most photographed park in East Africa. Porini Camp sits just outside the park, in the Masai-owned conservancy called Selenkay. Additionally, Amboseli offers a huge diversity of game with large herds of elephants, and whilst the Selenkay Conservancy is generally bushier than the greater Amboseli ecosystem, the game viewing is still prominent, seen on foot and in safari vehicles.
Layout
The camp has nine tents, accommodating a maximum of 18 guests. In the main mess tent, a lounge and dining area is equipped with comfy sofas, armchairs and beanbags for guests to relax in, where throughout the day, with tea, coffee and water provided for. Also, for breakfast and lunch, the dining experience is alfresco, under the trees to shade from the African sun.
Rooms
The en-suites canvassed tents have a traditional safari design, with simple furnishings, spacious rooms and comfortable thick rugs and bed linen. Additionally, the bathrooms are at the back of the tent, separated with a large zipped flap. Inside, sits a flushing toilet, a wash basin and a classic ‘bucket shower’ with hot water at your disposable after an exciting day on safari.
Activities
Situated in the Selenkay conservancy, Porini Amboseli Camp offers a range of alternative activities to camps inside the park. These include day and night game drives, guided bush walks, an authentic visit to a nearby Masai village and sundowners in stunning, remote locations. Guests can also go to sit in one of the viewing platforms that the camp has constructed over the three waterholes of the conservancy.
AA lodge Amboseli
AA Amboseli Lodge is a Mid-range accommodation in Amboseli National park built in a three-tier architectural design. Additionally, it is strategically located 2km from Amboseli National Park main gate (Kimana Gate). It is also conveniently within the Emali-Loitoktok tarmac road.
Furthermore, it is 240 km from Nairobi, 16km from Amboseli airstrip, 20 km from the Emali (20 km from the Emali-Loitoktok tarmac road). Also, it commands a panoramic view of the snow-capped Mt. Kilimanjaro, the world’s highest free Standing Mountain. With a total of 98 rooms, the lodge is intimate and friendly with many personal touches.
Rooms
There are 29 classic tents, 24 classic cottages and for those looking for a more luxurious experience. The 7 superior rooms will with no doubt meet the best of the expectation. Additionally, the rooms are elegant and spacious with private bathrooms with hot water. There is a wardrobe, reading table, hair dryers, safe deposit and also private balcony.
There are a range of facilities for making every guest as relax as possible. Also, those looking to relax and unwind can make use of the Hotels Beauty Spa which offers a variety of treatment. In addition, the ornate swimming pool is perfect for a refreshing dip. This is after and before the morning and evening game drive respectively. Also; the lodge has a bonfire a perfect place to socialize in the evening. The barman prepares refreshing cocktails for the guests.
For business travelers, the imposing well equipped three conference halls with a capacity of 50,100 and 200 delegates offers the tranquility of study environment. The lodge also offers team building ground.
