Governors’ II Moran Camp (A luxury private camp in the heart of the game)
Governors’ II Moran Camp, in terms of its luxury, is a step up from its sister properties, Governors’ Main and Little Governors Camp. The camp is also in the best location for game. The setup
The camp is hidden under ancient trees deep in the forest. There are ten tents which line the winding banks of the Mara River. The dark chunky wooden tables contrast with the oversized blue couches. A central colorfully beaded chandelier, tribal portraits and African artefacts are dotted around. Meals are served on the raised wooden decking of the main mess. The dining tent offers a birds eye view of the snorting hippos below.
Location
Governors’ II Moran Camp sits high along the top banks of the Mara River. The Governors’ Camps arguably have the best location in the Mara. This is because there is an abundance of game all year round. In the late summer months, activity increases as the Great Migration passes through these plains and crosses the infamous Mara River.
Layout
Tucked away in the shaded forest are II Moran’s 10 tents, spread along the winding banks of the Mara River. The central area of II Moran Camp consists of;

- a beautiful white linen table set up for alfresco dining under the twinkling stars
- the staff are extremely welcoming, and when it’s dark in the evenings, they will personally escort guests back to their tent.
Rooms
Morans’ tents are very spacious, homing a stunning ‘super king’ wooden bed, a desk, an open wardrobe and a small day bed. The en-suites are truly enormous, connected to the bedroom with zipped flaps. They each have an open walk-in shower, a vanity unit with twin washbasins and a freestanding bronze bath, to give it the ultimate vintage touch.
Activities
The Governors’ Camps combine the best locations, vehicles and guides to give the best game viewing experience in the world’s prime wildlife area. As an additional activity, the Governors Camps also offer their very own hot air balloon rides. The rides take off from the plains behind the camp. Taking off just before the sunrise, the balloon safaris carefully hugs the meandering banks of the Mara River. You will receive exceptional views over the Mara plains, the escarpment and the Serengeti National park.
