Ishasha Wilderness Camp

On the densely wooden banks of the Ntungwe River, Ishasha Wilderness Camp is a charming property within the southern Ishasha sector of Uganda’s Queen Elizabeth National Park.

The wilderness surrounding the campsite is breathtakingly beautiful and unspoilt, inhabited by prolific wildlife including elephant, buffalo, black-and-white colobus monkey and tree-climbing lion.

Accommodation at Ishasha Wilderness Camp

It is in 10 spacious canvas-clad rooms, each fitted with a private veranda and canopied bed. Ensuite bathrooms contain eco-toilets and bush showers with plenty of hot water. Meals can be enjoyed in the thatched communal lounge and dining area, which features an outdoor firepit for atmospheric al fresco dining.

There is also a bar here, with a good selection of quality local and imported beverages.

Guided nature walks

Animals often move freely through Ishasha Wilderness Camp. You can also go in search of them on early morning and late afternoon game drives, embark on a guided walk to admire the birdlife or maybe even cruise the hippo-rich Kazinga Channel located to the north of the park. Also, in this part of the park is the picturesque Kyambura Gorge, where you can trek to see a small troop of chimpanzees. For a glimpse into local culture, visit the members of a nearby community to sample traditional foods and to learn what plants they consider to have medicinal value. This is in the company of your Pamoja Tours and Travel guide.
