Location

Sanctuary Kichakani Camp is a mobile tented camp that moves between three locations throughout the year to follow the wildebeest herds. The camp is located in the Central Serengeti National Park in the months of June to mid-July. In Northern Serengeti from late July to November and also Southern Serengeti from December to March.

Layout

Translating as “in the bush” in Swahili, Sanctuary Kichakani camp is made of 10 luxury safari tents. The rooms are each ensuite and also offer a bucket shower. This can be filled with hot water by your very own personal tent attendant. The tents are also beautiful in design – we think it’s a combination of ‘Out of Africa’ meets modern “chic”. The main mess areas of the camp comprise of a lounge, dining area and a bar. All are under a central canopied area with soft and elegant lighting and African art.

Rooms

Although the Sanctuary Kichakani camp is a mobile tent, it certainly does not lack in luxury! The rooms all well-appointed, with simple furnishings, large double or twin beds and an en-suite bathroom. The bathroom has running water, flushing toilets. It also has bucket showers, an authentic way to get stuck into the safari experience!

Classic compaign tents

An elegant contemporary take on the classic campaign look, Sanctuary Kichakani Serengeti Camp also offer accommodation under canvas. This has 10 new five-star tents, all of which they style with distinction. Each tent has a wooden deck perfect for pausing for a just-brewed cup of Tanzania’s finest coffee. Its ensuite bathrooms feature authentic bucket showers. A personal tent attendant is also available around the clock. This is to fill each bucket shower to the perfect temperature. Thanks to the on-the-go nature of the whole sand-colored canvas-constructed camp. This is because there is little impact on the environment, casting a lighter ecological shadow.

Canopy community

In addition to the new sophisticated private tents, the camp also features a grand central canopied area. Here, the main tent flows into lounges and dining wings. Promising awe-inspiring panoramas, the tents can be open on the sides to reveal the soul-stirring landscape. Savour international flavours alongside kachumbari (traditional Tanzanian salsa). Coconut beans, paprika, cinnamon, chilli from nearby Zanzibar, conjured up by the Chef and also his team. You can also spend evenings by the traditional fire pit. Also by exchanging stories under starry skies and listening to tales of wildlife encounters. Also historical derring-do from the passionate guides.
